Last night was a brand new Avenger (Earth/Hunting) and I can't stop being amazed at how effective the Core Dweller is. My hoard won't get better, but enemies will.

My Underlord Mod Shaman (5x Wolves, 3x Skeletons, 1x Nymph, 1x Bone Fiend) rolls over everything I've seen up to Act II - but I'm worried about stagnation. I hardly remember Acts II, III, and IV - but have spent days in Act I with multiple characters. I really need to stop restarting and try to get further into the game. I expect this will involve Shift+Attack held down until the fight ends, and then item cleanup - a lot less clicking. I was going to make a Juggernaut, but decided I'd probably prefer Hunting/Earth (Avenger?) so I can take real advantage of the pet's aggro ability and health while I hang back plinking. Even holding Shift+Attack to wave your weapons around at incoming hostiles still leaves you with a lot of running around for melee cleanup and then item gathering.

My Pet Specialist (Underlord Mod Shaman) never really attacks unless it's for a good reason (saving my life, a Boss, an Elite, etc) and I feel a lot like all I do is run around collecting items as well - but it's never approached what I might call excessive repetition in clicking, not much more than any other game.Д¬ombat-intense classes, though, yeah - that's a buttload of clicking. What repetitive motion causes that pain? The clicking, the wrist action. Can't imagine how bad it would be with my spear brigand and no aoe. I've dropped two +Pet Physical, +Pet Physical% items (Staff and Amulet) for +1 skill items - I've got +3 to Nature and +3 to Spirit now, by simply switching weapons and amulets - meaning my summoned pets are almost at their peak skill potential and my Nature spells are buffed up - +3 Heart of Oak is +15% health, which doesn't suck same for my Regrowth spell. Basic critters might not have great drop rates, but when you can kill a couple hundred pretty quickly, it's a lot of fun and a lot of rolls of the dice. Underlord puts gross numbers of creatures in there, and my pets make a good pulverizer out of it all. I think my favorite place to turn my pets loose is the area between Pernassus and the Gorgon bosses. I actually heard the special drop noise from something off-screen and had to go back to see what my pets had found. You'll never guess what dropped off a common creature last night while I was storming off to kill the Cyclops with my pets in tow. Though I'm still thankful to Paingod, and I have more recipes for Book of Dreams to assemble anyway. I finally got one of my own today as a quest reward. I just need to remember to set the Windows sound setting back to Desktop stereo speakers after I play (in case it actually matters).ДЄnyway, I leveled my Hunter to about 3 or so and am enjoying it so far.

so I don't think anything is dropping out as far as I can tell. I tried setting it to headphones but it drastically reduced the overall sound volume, so then I tried the 4 speaker setting and everything seemed to sound fine. But should I be seeing an ingame option for 2 or 2.1 speakers? Should I just use the headphones setting? I am going to try setting it to headphones, since I think I may end up with missing sounds if I choose 4 or 5.1.

It seems to default to 4 speakers and, more annoyingly, keeps resetting my Windows sound settings to 4 (quad) speakers as well. I have 2.1 speakers, but for some reason the ingame sound options only give me a choice of headphones, 4 speakers, or 5.1 speakers.
